Bringing the Arts to the Under-Served, Arts for Humanity! Providing Creative Opportunities in 2019

Dear Friends,

During this season of gratitude, we call on our friends and neighbors to help us celebrate our mission and commitment to bringing the joy and healing power of the arts to Santa Barbara community members, who otherwise have little access to creative opportunities.

As our program offerings are provided free of charge, Arts for Humanity! is supported entirely by the generosity of philanthropic giving. Your support is vital for us; each donation helps us provide marginalized community members with participatory art experiences that lift the spirit and transform lives. Over the past few years, natural disasters have brought disruption and heartbreak to our community; throughout the recovery efforts Arts for Humanity! continued delivering creative arts programs free of charge to local non-profits and social service agencies, doing our part to help our community heal.

Going forward, we are honored and proud to continue our long standing partnerships and embrace our new engagement with, United Way of Santa Barbara County, providing them much needed arts opportunities for their annual Fun in the Sun program which serves hundreds of at-risk  youth. Additionally, we have happily expanded our Life Stories for Seniors in low-income residential communities, giving recognition to these often overlooked community members.

Thanks to the generous support of donors like you, Arts for Humanity! provides creative arts classes and performances to local non-profits.

With every $10 donated, we provide a marginalized member of our community an empowering arts experience. Please consider making a year-end gift today.

It’s very rare to mix a true artistic experience with social service – this work does both on a very high level.

Upcoming Events

Summer is around the corner and Arts for Humanity! could not be more excited for our upcoming events! Throughout the year, we bring the arts to those who otherwise would not have access to them. Each summer, we work with local community events and organizations to share our “Create a Costume and Portraits for Youth” event, imparting the joy of imagination and creativity to our community.

Create a Costume & Portraits for Youth:

This summer we brought our Create a Costume & Portraits for Youth booth to our new partner, Santa Barbara Rite Care Childhood Language Center, for their annual summer celebration at Family Fiesta. Great fun was had by all!

“Thank you ever so much for volunteering your time, beautiful costumes and creativity at our end of summer Family Fiesta!  Your costume booth was the hit of the party. It was so wonderful to see our clients having so much fun putting together costumes and modeling them for their families and friends. This was such a fantastic addition to our yearly event and we hope to collaborate with you again next year and the years to follow. Thanks for all you do for the Santa Barbara community.” - Summer Calvert, Speech-Language Pathologist

We also brought our booth to the Goleta Lemon Festival. For the past 26 years, the Lemon Festival has been the biggest celebration in the Goleta area and it keeps getting better each year.

Hoedown with the Down Syndrome Association of Santa Barbara County

October 6th, Arts for Humanity! participated in “Hoedown” hosted by the Down Syndrome Association of Santa Barbara County. At the event everyone got to enjoy a BBQ Dinner, dancing, Arts for Humanity!’s Create a Costume & Portraits for Youth boothand much more.

Create a Costume & Portraits for Youth invites to create costumes and have their portraits taken. We offer opportunities for children and teens of all backgrounds to explore their creativity and interact with each other as they explore a plethora of costumes and props for creative costuming and imaginative play.
